52 Ancestors Week 42 - Jean Baptiste Henri

I know very little about Jean Baptiste Henri. All I really know is he is the father listed on Irma Henri's birth record. From her birth record we know he was born around 1840, probably in Belgium. And in 1868-1872 he and his wife Adele Dumont lived in Chatelineau, Belgium. I have searched for other records of him and his wife, but I haven't found anything yet.
If anyone has more information about my great-great-grandfather and his family, let me know.

52 Ancestors Week 21- Irma Henri

Irma Henri was born on July 6, 1872, in Châtelineau, Belgium to Adele Dumont and Jean Baptiste Henri. She had at least 1 older sister, Maria Celina Henri.
Irma and Emile Piraux had a daughter, Helene, on November 14, 1897, in Charleroi, Belgium. Irma married Emile Francois Joseph Piraux on August 6, 1898, in Châtelineau, Belgium, when she was 26 years old. Helene passed away on January 28, 1899.
They had 2 more children while living in Belgium: Marcelin Leopold Joseph Piraux and Josephine Maria Piraux. Then in Dec 1901 they all immigrated to America on the SS Nederland from Antwerp to Philadelphia.
They moved around Washington and Allegheny counties in Pennsylvania for several years, having 5 more children. The youngest, Ector, is only recorded on the naturalization papers for Emile (and family), so we assume he died in infancy.
In 1929 Emile died. Irma died on July 4, 1947, in Smith, Pennsylvania, when she was 74 years old, of a Cerebral Hemorrhage.

52 Ancestors Week 15 - Emile Piraux

This week's theme is "How do you spell that?" I certainly have ancestors that have interesting recordings of the spelling of their names. One such ancestor is Emile Francois Joseph Piraux.

Emile was born March 24, 1871 in Glimes, Belgium, the 3rd of 7 children born to Henri Joseph Francois Piraux and Marie Chirese Paris.

On August 6, 1898 he married Irma Henri in Chatelineau, Belgium. While in Belgium they had 2 children, one of whom died as a baby. They then immigrated to America in December 1901 on the S.S. Nederland from Antwerp. They made their home in Washington County, Pennsylvania and had 6 more children.

He died  March 9, 1929 in Robinson, Pennsylvania of mitral and aortic insufficiency (heart valve leaking problems).

Most of the misspellings of his name seem to come from the fact that Americans have a hard time spelling French names. In various places he is listed as: Emmil Perow (1910 census), Emil Piroux (1920 census), Amile Piraux (daughter's marriage cert), and I have also seen it spelled Pireaux in a few documents. But, the most consistent spelling seems to be Emile Piraux, so I go with that one.
